Agnes G. Doody, Ph.D.

Agnes Doody commands strong interpersonal communication competences. She has taught on both the graduate and undergraduate level for more than four decades in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Rhode Island, where she is now Professor Emerita. She has specialized in negotiation and mediation, public speaking, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication and gender communication.

In addition, Agnes Doody is president of Arthur Associates, a consulting firm which focuses on business communication and management. As a consultant she has coached executives, mediated conflicts among and between senior management, has developed in-house training programs focusing on reducing workplace conflict resolution, has offered programs in public speaking, intercultural communication, business writing, and gender communication. She has also completed communication audits for senior management in several organizations.

Keenly interested in international affairs, Agnes studied the emerging democratic aspects of the Shah's White Revolution and Prime Minister J. Nehru's leadership in India. That study took her to both India and Iran. Her understanding of intercultural communication in the global community has been strengthened by her visits to more than 45 countries and six continents.

Agnes received her B.A. degree from Emerson College, her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Pennsylvania State University , and a Certificate from the year-long Program of Negotiation, Harvard Law School.
